How to Get to Mall of America
The Blue Line from the airport
Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport has a Blue Line station at Terminal 1 (Lindbergh) and another at Terminal 2 (Humphrey). A free tram runs between the terminals around the clock. From either station the ride to Mall of America takes about 12 minutes. The airport page covers layovers.
The Blue Line from downtown Minneapolis
The line starts at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis and reaches Mall of America in about 39 minutes. Trains run every 7.5 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day, and a regular Metro Transit fare applies. The mall’s directions page still uses the line’s old name, Hiawatha Line or Route 55. Saint Paul is reached with a change to the Green Line at the downtown end. Timetables are on metrotransit.org.
Arriving at the station
Mall of America station is on the ground floor of the East parking ramp. Since a 2019 rebuild, riders walk into the mall through a tunnel under the ring road instead of crossing outside. The station is also the end of the Red Line and D Line bus-rapid-transit routes. SEA LIFE, on Level 1 east, is the nearest attraction.
Driving and the interstate exits
- From the north or south: Interstate 35W to Interstate 494 east, exit 24th Avenue South.
- From the west: Interstate 94 east to Interstate 494 south, exit Killebrew Drive or 81st Street/Lindau Lane.
- From the east: Interstate 94 west to Interstate 494 south, exit 24th Avenue South.
Parking, free, with lights over each space
Parking is free in the East and West ramps, the North Lot and the South Ramp. A light above each space shows green for open, red for full and blue for accessible. The two skyway hotels
The JW Marriott and the Radisson Blu Mall of America are joined to the mall by skyway, so guests reach the corridors without going outside.
The East ramp puts the car park, the light-rail station and SEA LIFE on the same side of the building.
