Mall of America Tickets, Compared

What is free and what needs a ticket
Mall of America opened on 11 August 1992 in Bloomington, next to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. Walking in costs nothing, parking is free on every ramp, and the doors open three hours before the shops for walkers. The corridors form a loose ring around Nickelodeon Universe, and each level is about 1.2 miles round. Anyone can walk onto the park floor and watch the Log Chute without a wristband. The tickets on this page buy the doors that are locked to everyone else: rides, tanks, a crayon factory, a game room, a museum and two golf courses. The free-entry page lists what costs nothing.
The park
Nickelodeon Universe fills seven acres at the centre of the building, under the skylights. The one-day unlimited-ride wristband covers the 26 rides and attractions the listing counts, from SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock to PAW Patrol Adventure Bay and the Rugrats Reptarmobiles. It includes free parking and access to seasonal events such as Toddler Tuesdays and Slime Break. Food, drinks and lockers cost extra. The wristband works only on the date booked. It is the one ticket here that can fill a whole day: one traveller wrote of ten hours in the park, and Molly and her daughter stayed from opening to closing. The park page sorts the rides by type and explains the points card sold at the park.
The aquarium
SEA LIFE Minnesota sits on Level 1 on the east side, under the east wing, at mall address 120 East Broadway. It holds 1.3 million gallons of water and a 300-foot walk-through tunnel with sand tiger sharks overhead; rays are in the Ray Lagoon and rescued sea turtles elsewhere in the aquarium. A typical visit takes about an hour, and the ticket is valid for one day. Children aged 2 and under enter free with a paying adult. The East Ramp is the closest parking, and the light-rail station is on the ground floor of the same ramp. The aquarium page covers the tunnel, the rescued turtles and the rules at the door.
Level 3 and Level 2: the other five
Four of the remaining attractions are on Level 3. Crayola Experience, in the south-east corner, takes 3 to 4 hours and its ticket is valid on any one day within 14 days of the date chosen. The Escape Game, on the east side, sells one 60-minute game in one of seven rooms for up to eight players, recommended for ages 13 and over. Moose Mountain Adventure Golf on the north side and Rock of Ages Blacklight Mini Golf on the east side each have 18 holes and take about an hour. Museum of Illusions is the only one on Level 2, on the north side, with more than 50 interactive exhibits; its ticket is non-refundable. The family-attractions page compares all five by age, time and level.

Durations are printed on each card. Prices change by date and are not printed on this site; the booking page shows the live figure for the day picked. Every ticket except the Museum of Illusions one can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before; the Museum of Illusions ticket is non-refundable once booked.

The 3 pm rule applies inside too
From 3 pm to closing every day, anyone under 16 has to be with an adult aged 21 or over. The rule runs all day on Black Friday and from 26 to 31 December, and one adult may supervise up to ten young people. It covers the attractions as well as the corridors; SEA LIFE repeats it on its own listing. Groups of teenagers without an adult need to finish their tickets before 3 pm.
The park and Crayola compete for the same hours: one can take a whole day and the other takes 3 to 4 hours. Crayola’s ticket is valid on any one day within 14 days of the chosen date, so it can move to a second visit if the park runs long.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a ticket to get into Mall of America?
No. The building, the parking ramps and the theme-park floor are free, with no booking. Tickets are sold only for the attractions inside. The cost page sets out what each ticket pays for.
Which Mall of America tickets can be cancelled?
Six of the seven allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The Museum of Illusions ticket is non-refundable. The escape room, Crayola, the aquarium, the ride pass and both mini-golf courses can all be cancelled within that window.
Can teenagers use these tickets without an adult?
Before 3 pm, the aquarium, park, Crayola, golf and illusions tickets can be used without an adult. The escape room needs an adult to sign the waiver for under-18s and to accompany under-14s. From 3 pm to closing the escort policy applies everywhere: anyone under 16 has to be with an adult aged 21 or over, inside the attractions too. The escort policy page has the dates it runs all day.
How many attractions fit into one day?
The park alone can fill a day. The aquarium, the escape room and each golf course take about an hour, and Crayola takes 3 to 4 hours. Two or three of the shorter ones fit around a half-day in the park.
